Caitlin Penny focuses on reductive relief printmaking techniques in an effort to discuss issues of environmental and animal conservation. As she has become more engrossed in the unique plight of endangered species, Caitlin realized that the power of printmaking lay not in how many prints she can pull, but in how few. For the process of making reduction prints results in the destruction of the print, a kind of extinction not unlike the risk faced by the animals depicted in her work.
